Alfa Romeo 1900CCS First registration: 1954, color: Gray, Chassis number: AR1900C01900 Documents included in the sale: This 1900CSS comes with a US title and EU import documents. Please note this car is being strictly sold as is. The odometer is displaying 00019 kms, which cannot be the correct reading. Designed by Dr. Orazio Satta Puliga and intended for volume production, the 1900 was the first Alfa Romeo to employ unitary construction. In keeping with the company's sporting heritage, it was powered by a twin-overhead-camshaft, four-cylinder engine. Launched in 1951, the 1900 Sprint featured either a cabriolet coachwork by Pininfarina or a coupe body by Touring. Both models utilized the 100 bhp engine of the 1900 TI sports sedan. In 1954, Alfa Romeo updated its successful 1900 model line with a more powerful version of the dual-overhead-cam inline four. For the short-chassis 1900C, this upgrade resulted in the competition-worthy Super Sprint, which has evolved into one of the most collectable of the 1900 iterations. Revered for its lightweight construction, performance capabilities, and classic Carrozzeria Touring design, it is the embodiment of classic post-war design in the great Italian grand touring tradition. This particular example has been slowly put together by the previous amateur owner with the intent to use the car as a display piece at the entrance of his building. He never finished the work, and we would argue that even for a static display piece, it still needs some work doing to it. The shut lines are not too bad overall, and it wouldn't be difficult to perfect this in a future repaint. Some exterior trim items, such as the front bumper and driver's door handle, are missing. The shut lines are not too bad overall, and it wouldn't be difficult to perfect this in a future repaint. Some exterior trim items are missing like the front bumper and drivers door handle. The interior is mostly complete but in need of finishing. The front seats are of the correct type but were trimmed in a different style to what the car would have left the factory with in its day. The steering wheel is in dire need of restoration. The carpets, door panels and rear bench area are all clean. Some trim items are missing. A Nardi shifter operates the gearbox. The wool headliner and sun visors are clean and in reasonably good shape. The 1900 engine looks very clean and is fitted with twin weber 40 DCOE carburetors. We did not try to start the engine of this car. A remarkable feature that ads to its particularity: this car is Alfa 1900CSS with vin number 1900. The engine compartment is clean, but there are also several small items missing. Revered for its lightweight construction, performance capabilities, and classic Carrozzeria Touring design, it is the embodiment of classic post-war design in the great Italian grand touring tradition. The undercarriage is relatively clean, and some suspension components, such as the shock absorbers, appear to have been replaced not so long ago. The body appears very solid, we found little to no obvious rest underneath. Road ready examples cost nearly 300 000 Euro. This is maybe the opportunity to make a real bargain.
